Executive Summary

Counterfeit trade in Kenya poses significant challenges to the economy. In 2018, the vice was valued at KES 100 billion, with one in five products being counterfeit. Approximately 4 million consumers use fake goods. Counterfeit products have infiltrated almost all sectors of the economy including pharmaceuticals, electronics, fashion, and consumer goods. This is causing harm to legitimate businesses and trusted brands while posing risks to public health.
