Prof. Mohamud Jama is a Development, Agricultural and Environmental Economist. He has over 35 years of teaching, training and research in sustainable development and policy.
Prof. Jama has served as Consultant for the World Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Government of Kenya and several international institutions. He is the former Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) and Director, Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi. Director, Environmental Economics Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (EENESA) and Executive Committee member, Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA), University of Pretoria.
Jama has been Resident Director for Minnesota Studies in International Development; Administrative Coordinator, School for International Training (SIT), North Carolina. He also served as guest lecturer for US Study Abroad programs, including, Lewis & Clarke, Dartmouth, St. Lawrence, American University, Kalamazoo and James Madison University.
Jama has been on numerous Boards, including, National Governing Council, New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD); Executive Committee, Greater Horn Horizons Forum (GHHF), UNESCO & IGAD sponsored; and Environment & Economic Consultant for Government of Kenya.
