Prof. Elisha T. Opiyo Omulo has been with the University of Nairobi for over 25 years, five of which have been at the Senior Lecturer level and the last five as an Associate Professor of Intelligent Systems in the Department of Computing and Informatics. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Wales. With extensive expertise and experience in teaching and research, he has taught a wide range of computing courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
At the graduate level, Prof. Omulo has taught courses in Artificial Intelligence, including Multi-Agent Systems, Machine Vision, and Embedded Intelligent Systems, as well as courses in Modeling and Simulations. He has been actively involved in research collaborations between the Department of Computing and Informatics and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Nairobi. In this capacity, he has served as Co-Director and Health Informatics Track Lead for an HIV/AIDS project for over seven years.
Prof. Omulo has numerous publications in journals, conferences, books, and book chapters. His research interests focus on the applications of Artificial Intelligence in various sectors, including education, health, and technology. Over the course of a 26-year career at the University of Nairobi, he previously held the position of Lecturer at Moi University and served as Principal Lecturer at Kenya Technical Teachers College under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). He has also been a member of the African Academy of Languages and, earlier in his career, was a member of the British Computer Society's Expert Systems Specialist Group between 1996 and 1997.
