Inspector General (Rtd) Mr. Joseph K. Boinnet served in the National Police Service of Kenya from March 2015 to March 2019, and his career spans a period of 38 years in the public service. During his tenure as Inspector-General, he implemented key policy decisions and oversaw the design and implementation of several important police reform initiatives that contributed to enhanced service delivery in the wider national security sector. In his previous roles, IG (Rtd) Boinnet served in other key public sector institutions, including stints at Kenya’s Diplomatic Missions in Italy and Zimbabwe. He also served as Deputy Head of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.
From 2019-2022, IG (Rtd) Boinnet served as the Chief Administrative Secretary, of the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, and assisted the Cabinet Secretary in the efforts to conserve and manage the country’s wildlife resources as well as the promotion of the tourism sector.
He is currently pursuing a Leadership Course at Harvard’s Kennedy School, including other related programs with other institutions. He holds a Master’s Degree in National Security Management from Australian National University, Canberra-Australia, and a Master’s Degree in Diplomatic Studies from Westminster University in London, UK. His research interests include leadership and security sector reforms, and foreign policy analysis.Â
