His prior roles include being a lecturer and researcher at the National Defence College, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the National Defence University-Kenya and developing its initial academic programs. He was also a spokesperson for the African Union Mission in Somalia and contributed to training and material development for female engagement teams.


Dr. Imbiakha's research contributions are notable, with publications like "Operation Linda Nchi: Kenya’s Military Experience in Somalia," "War for Peace: Kenya’s Military in AMISOM," "The Somali Conflict: An Insider’s Memoir," and "Col Omar Jess, Soldier’s Legacy." Currently, he's involved in the development of the book "KDF: The Defender of the Nation."
